Alternate Realities is a new concept for a band that stems from the brain of drummer Todd "Vinny" Vinciguerra. The music is created from the bottom up. That is, the rhythm section, in particular the drums, is the driving creative force behind the band. Once a groove is established, it is passed along to the bass player, then guitarist for independent interpretation. This is a different approach to music. Most bands create a melody and the chords first and then the rhythm section supports this predetermined song. The results are interesting and delightful in that the final piece contains parts by each musician uniquely composed completely independent of the each other. The sound of the band varies from piece to piece, but it is a combination of ethereal trippy sounds and driving rhythms.

When performed live, the music keeps the same flavor as the original recording with spontaneous variations. No two performances of any particular piece are identical, by design, to keep the freshness in the music.

Dan Peters - Guitarist on "The One"

Although Dan began playing in 1980, he didn't become professional until 1991, after attending Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. He immediately went on tour with various show bands and periodically returned home to Chicago. In 1992, he won two major guitar contests, Chicago's Finest Fingers and Chicago's Hottest Guitarist. These led to an endorsement with Washburn Guitars as well as notoriety as an instructor.

Between tours, he performed and recorded with a number of local groups as well as having a full roster of students.

In 1997, he joined The Big Swing, eventually becoming group leader, during the peak of the swing craze. This led to a national recording (Swing This, Baby II), tours of the U.S. and Europe (including an opening spot for Little Richard), an appearance on ABC's tv show Cupid, and, individually, a performance with Jules Holland (formerly of Squeeze) for the BBC.

Currently, Dan is promoting and performing with his newest project, The Cosmic Rays ("This Time" on Airway Records.) He is also performing regularly with jazz saxophonist, Sam Burckhardt. They are planning a tour of Germany and Switzerland in the spring. He is also gigging regularly with his own jazz combo and various jobbing groups as well as teaching his regular roster of guitar students.

Special Thanks to the other guitarists:

Jordan Burgess (guitars on "Separation Process")

Rob Magargal (guitars on "Sympathy") *special unreleased track
